The HP Deskjet D2468 is designed for buyers who want a compact and affordable inkjet printer without sacrificing quality and speed. It eschews some of the advanced features present in more expensive models, but still provides speeds of up to 20 pages per minute for black and 14 pages per minute for color. HP D2468 printer ink is not particularly cost-effective, however.
The D2468 seems tailor-made for tight spaces, with dimensions of 5.5x16.3x16.8 and a weight of only 5.5 pounds (not including Deskjet D2468 ink). A few sacrifices were made for such a small footprint, however. The control panel consists of only three buttons and the lack of memory card slots or a PictBridge port preclude any direct printing features. Instead, users must utilize the included software.
Paper handling is quite versatile. The input tray can only hold a maximum of 80 pages, but a variety of media types are supported, including transparencies, photo paper, envelopes, cards, and more. Media sizes are limited to a maximum of 8.5x11, however. A single USB port is the only connection option, though both Windows and Mac platforms are supported. Network sharing would have been a nice extra, but it is difficult to complain, given the low price.
Sadly, printer ink costs are the main drawback. Deskjet D2468 ink cartridges have fairly small capacities, but high prices, which results in a high cost per page. Remanufactured HP D2468 ink cartridges are available for slightly lower prices from third-party vendors, but not on par with some competing models.
If it weren't for the high cost of HP D2468 ink, this inkjet model would be a better value. It has impressive speeds and solid output quality, but it will end up costing users too much to operate, and with so many cost-effective models available, it is difficult to recommend.
