The HP D1530 is a compact inkjet printer that home users will certainly enjoy. With its monthly duty cycle of 500 pages, only users with very low volumes will be able to use it, which will be a drawback for office environments. For those who need simple printing and occasional photo prints, it will be a good fit. It also only weighs less than 5 pounds.

Two HP D1530 ink cartridges are needed for printing- one is filled with black printer ink and one is tricolor. The tricolor Deskjet D1530 ink cartridge contains cyan, magenta and yellow ink. The only real problem with these tanks of HP D1530 ink is the fact that they have small page yields. The black yields 190 pages, while the tricolor tank yields 165 pages. A resolution of 1200x1200 dpi is possible using only black printer ink, and the color ink can reach resolutions as high as 4800x1200 dpi. Plain paper, photo paper, index cards, labels and transparencies can all be printed on with this HP D1530 ink too.

Though many people have positive things to say about the HP D1530, a lot also have some negative things to say as well. One problem has to do with the lack of networking capabilities, though that isn't necessarily expected in a unit that can only print. Installation problems are a major concern, and set up is relatively difficult for an inkjet printer. Another complaint is the fact that the machine has high ink consumption, meaning owners must buy replacements quite often. However, many people find that the Deskjet D1530 ink tanks are so inexpensive that it doesn't matter how many times it needs to purchased. All in all, it is a reliable printer with speed and quality that should be expected for such an affordable price.
