Connecting with a high speed USB, Mac and Windows operating systems are both compatible. Printing directly from a memory card is also an option, and cards such as Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Compact Flash and MS Micro are a few examples of the many supported. It weighs only 15.7 pounds, meaning it will be easy for one person to move, but it will not be light enough to be a portable unit. There are two needed HP C5200 ink cartridges—black and tricolor. Using the black Photosmart C5200 ink, about 32 pages per minute can be printed or copied. With color, only about 24 can be copied or printed. These speeds are fast, compared to similar units, and this all in one has a monthly duty cycle of up to 3,000 pages. About 125 pages can fit into the input tray, and 50 fit into the output tray. Many different types of media can be printed on including plain paper, inkjet paper, photo paper, envelopes, labels and cards. This unit even has the capacity to print on CDs and DVDs.

The resolutions exerted are quite high. With the help of black HP C5200 ink, resolutions of 1200x1200 dpi are possible when printing. Resolutions as high as 4800x1200 dpi can be created using the color printer ink. The copier has a resolution of 4800x1200 dpi, whether using black or color Photosmart C5200 ink.

Though only the black and color printer ink are necessary, a third and fourth HP C5200 ink cartridge—color photo and color gray—can be purchased for optimal photo printing. Though these are not needed, for photography enthusiasts, this will be a much loved addition, making the HP C5200 more than just a simple document printer.
