Know a student looking for a solid inkjet printer for their dorm or apartment? Tell them to take a look at the HP Photosmart C4585 all in one. Though it doesn't look like much on the outside, it can print, scan and copy at impressive speeds. The C4585 was made for the home or office, but due to its average quality results, it may not be the best option for high-volume printing. However, for a student just trying to get an ‘A' and print reports or simple graphic elements, this will be the perfect fit. It also only needs two Photosmart C4585 ink cartridges, which will leave owners free of the hassle of maintenance. These printer ink tanks do tend to have high ink consumption, though.
The two needed HP C4585 ink cartridges are black and tricolor. The tricolor tank holds cyan, magenta and yellow printer ink. Using the color Photosmart C4585 ink, a high quality resolution of 4800x1200 is the result, and the result using black is about 1200 dpi. A photo tank of HP C4585 ink can be purchased as an option, and it will print photos with even higher quality than with just black or tricolor ink alone.
The problem with these HP C4585 ink tanks is their price tag. Though they are somewhat affordable, they do not last long due to their small yields. Depending on how much is printed, this could be a major expense for some. Most standard types of paper can be printed on, and standard sizes will most likely work fine in conjunction with the C4585.
User reviews for the C4585 are somewhat mixed. Though some find this inkjet unit to be an inexpensive, quality photo printer, some find it to be a waste of money. One person even calls it "worthless" saying it is very loud and unreliable. Though many have had problems connecting wirelessly, many find the unit to be a comfortable fit for low-volume needs.
