Easily compatible with Windows or Mac operating systems, the setup is a synch, and it will have buyers printing in no time. The C4583 has a duty cycle of only 1,000 pages meaning that it would fit best in a home with minimal to average printing needs—those who do a lot of printing, though, should steer clear. Not only are the HP C4583 ink cartridges a little more pricey than the competition, but they don't last as long, meaning buyers could potentially spend a lot of money on ink.

A black and a color Photosmart C4583 ink cartridge are both needed to begin printing, and a photo printer ink tank can be purchased optionally. The black has a yield of 200 pages, the color has a yield of 170 pages and the photo tank only yields 130 pages. Using only the black HP C4583 ink, about 30 pages can be printed per minute. About 24 pages per minute can be printed using color printer ink.

The flatbed scanner can create resolutions of 1200 dpi, the copier can create a high resolution of 1200x1200 dpi, and the printer can have resolutions of up to 4800x1200 dpi using color Photosmart C4583 ink. The copier can produce up to 50 copies from an original document, and it has the ability to reduce and enlarge documents anywhere from 50-400%.

Though these resolutions seem quite impressive, users tend to disagree. They find HP C4583 ink to be expensive and low quality. Most have had problems with the inkjet unit being unreliable, and as far as the copier goes, there are many complaints when it comes to reduction. All around, the C4583 looks good on paper—but only if the consumer requires basic printing.
