There are a lot of outdated inkjet printers out there on the market, and the HP DeskWriter c is one of those. Though it's been discontinued, it used to be a very popular machine because of its ability to print text or graphics documents with millions of colors and at resolutions of 300 dpi using color HP c ink cartridges. The biggest issue with this machine will no doubt be its speeds. When printing using black DeskWriter c ink only speeds can only reach 1 page per minute in best mode, 2 pages per minute in normal mode and 3 pages per minute in draft mode. Plan on printing in color? If so, plan on a long wait time too, because using color HP c ink, best speeds are 7 minutes per page, normal speeds take 4 minutes per page and draft mode will take 3 minutes per page. For those who plan on printing more than one page at a time, these speeds could become very annoying.
Two HP c ink cartridges are needed for printing—one tricolor and one black printer ink. The black will last 790 pages, while the tricolor printer ink will last about 640 pages before needing replaced. For most, these page yields will actually last quite awhile. However, the cost per page may seem a little pricey.
For those who own this product, remanufactured DeskWriter c ink cartridges are available. These inkjet tanks will cost buyers a lot less than the genuine OEM tanks would, and they work just as well too. The page yields offered by these tanks will definitely make buyers quite happy all around.
Another admirable quality of this machine is the fact that it can print on transparencies, plain paper and envelopes. It can also produce about 1,000 pages every month, but the slow speeds will make that a difficult goal to reach.
