The HP PhotoSmart B209a is a multifunction inkjet printer that combines an excellent feature set with a convenient full-color touch screen interface. It is designed with home and small office users in mind and offers fast printing speeds of up to 30 pages per minute for black and 28 pages per minute for color. HP B209a ink is affordable, making it a very economical machine.
The unit is very compact, measuring 8.1 inches by 17.8 inches by 16 inches, and weighing only 15.7 pounds. Perhaps most impressive is its affordable price, which comes in lower than many models in its class, while it still provides the same functionality and the bonus of its color touch screen interface. Using the included touch screen, it is easy to print, scan, or copy without even connecting to a computer. Even novices will likely have no trouble performing most tasks. The HP B209a (also referred to as the B209) also prints excellent photos and has a separate tray for loading photo paper that makes it quick and easy to switch tasks.
HP B209a ink cartridges have a capacity of 300 pages for each color and 250 pages for the black PhotoSmart B209a ink cartridge. High-yield PhotoSmart B209a ink cartridges are also available, with a capacity of 750 pages for each color printer ink cartridge and 800 pages for the black printer ink cartridge. Using high-capacity HP B209a ink cartridges will result in a much lower cost per page.
In a review of the HP B209a inkjet, PC World gave it a rating of 80 out of 100 and put it in their Top 5 list in its class. They praised its fast printing speeds for both text and graphics and liked its Wi-Fi connectivity, but they disliked its slow scanning speeds.
Overall, the PhotoSmart B209a is a very easy to use multifunction inkjet that will appeal to small office buyers who may be new to multifunction devices. Its wireless connectivity makes it very easy to connect and set up.
