Looking for a compact, dependable all-in-one inkjet printer? The HP OfficeJet 7140 could be the right match. With easy setup, fast print speeds and high quality results, this unit is more than versatile. There are multiple connectivity options including standard USB interface as well as optional parallel, wireless and Ethernet hook ups. The HP JetDirect makes it possible to set up a network between multiple computers if any of the multiple connectivity options are desired. For an all in one, the price tag is fairly inexpensive, and the price of the required HP 7140 ink cartridges won't break the bank either. It would most likely be best suited for homes or very small offices.
This inkjet unit only uses two OfficeJet 7140 ink cartridges. One tank holds black printer ink, while the other is a tricolor tank holding cyan, magenta and yellow. The black can print at an impressive speed of 22 pages per minute, and the tricolor HP 7140 ink prints at 18 pages per minute. The color and black printer ink have yields of 470 and 800, respectively—meaning users won't have to replace ink too often. However, if printing at maximum capacity, this could become an expense.
Mac and Windows users will be happy to know that this machine is compatible with both. Ready and able to print on most standard media types—paper, envelopes, labels, transparencies, cards and iron-on transfers—the unit can hold up to 400 sheets of regular paper in its input tray. The fax option takes about 3 seconds per page and has an unlimited phonebook, 20 number speed dial and memory of 125 pages. The copier prints at the same speeds of 22 and 18 pages per minute using the same OfficeJet 7140 ink.
Consumer reviews for this model are fairly mixed. Some love the product and its functions and dependability, while some find them to be average. Many complain about the price of HP 7140 ink. However, most agree it prints fairly well and its benefits outweigh its flaws.
