The HP LaserJet 5Si is a monochrome laser printer designed for the medium or large office environment. It has large capacity HP toner cartridges and print speed and capacity to keep up with a large number of users, but its bulky frame requires a lot of space.
The HP 5Si is a very large printer. While small office users might be tempted by its large paper and toner cartridge capacity, or its fast print speeds, its size will likely preclude it from these spaces. When the printer's output trays and attachments are extended, it can require up to 46 inches in width, and leaving space for the input trays to open requires around 35 inches in depth. It weighs around 99 pounds, though it can be wheeled around when its optional additional output tray is attached at the bottom of the unit.
The printer's monthly duty cycle of 100,000 pages gives a hint to its high-volume design. Its basic paper capacity is 600 sheets, but with an additional 2,000 sheet tray, it can reach a maximum of 2,600 sheets. The extra tray adds considerably to the size and weight of the printer, however.
