The HP OfficeJet 5505 is an all-in-one inkjet printer with high quality and fast speeds. It makes copies, scans, faxes and prints, all in color. Producing up to 17 pages per minute using black HP 5505 ink and as many as 12 pages in color, this unit is a good fit for a home or a small office. It will be efficient when printing large or small documents and has a monthly capacity of 1,600 pages.

This unit has an automatic document feeder so users do not have to stand at the printer inserting each piece of paper. This connects by USB port only, but it has an impressive image transfer rate. It features drop-on-demand technology which uses nozzles to apply small dots of HP 5505 ink onto the page. The dots are layered over every inch, creating a dpi, which is how resolutions are measured.

The OfficeJet 5505 ink can reach a resolution of up to 4800x1200 dpi when printing. The scanner can obtain a maximum resolution of 600x2400 dpi, as well as a 36-bit internal color depth. The copy machine can zoom up to 400% and makes up to 12 copies per minute using black HP 5505 ink and 10 in color. The fax can produce at 3 seconds per page and has a 33.6 Kbps transmission speed.

There are only two HP 5505 ink cartridges in this machine, one black and the other tricolor. The tricolor is made up of 3 different colors of printer ink, cyan, yellow and magenta. Though these printer ink tanks do not yield very many pages, replacement OfficeJet 5505 ink cartridges are available from third party vendors for less than they cost from the original manufacturer. The bottom line is that the HP OfficeJet 5505 is a high quality inkjet printer that will fit in wherever it is needed.
