There are thousands of printers out there, and there are many people with different printing needs. For those looking for a basic inkjet model with good quality and decent speeds, the HP Deskjet 3915 is worth considering. It does not have a lot of fancy features, but it is reliable and fairly simple to use. It is definitely meant for home use. An office would not benefit from the 3915.

There is an 80 sheet input tray and a 50 sheet output tray. It has a USB interface, which provides faster image transfers than parallel ports. This inkjet unit comes with on-screen print management tools, allowing users to preview and choose the most effective settings. It is compatible with most major operating systems, including the main two found in most homes, Windows and Mac.

There are two HP 3915 ink cartridges, one black and one tricolor. The tricolor consists of cyan, magenta and yellow printer ink. The black Deskjet 3915 ink cartridge has a page yield of 190 and the color can yield 165 pages. Needless to say, replacement printer ink will need to be purchased quite often, but it can be found at a discounted price from third party vendors.

When using the color HP 3915 ink, up to 10 pages per minute can be printed at a maximum resolution of 4800x1200 dpi. This is pretty good quality for such a basic model. The black Deskjet 3915 ink can reach a resolution of 1200x1200 dpi and can produce as many as 14 pages per minute. Unfortunately, this unit does not allow double-sided printing.

When it comes to reviews, most of them were not great. Though most people realize a machine that costs $50-$70 is not going to be golden, some still raged about the paper jams and lousy document feeders, as well as the quick consumption of HP 3915 ink.
