The HP DeskJet 3910 is a compact and portable inkjet printer. It is a good fit for home offices and personal use. Even though it has a decent output rate and resolution, it is just not equipped for a business environment. At 16 pages per minute in black HP 3910 ink, and 12 pages per minute in color printer ink, this unit would slow work down rather than contribute to more production.

The HP DeskJet 3910 is compatible with Windows and Mac, but requires different processors for each. Windows needs a Pentium II 233MHz CPU while Mac will work with a Power PC G3. There is a USB connection for faster set up and transfers. The 3910 is capable of printing on plain paper, envelopes, greeting cards, index cards, transparencies, labels and photo paper.

It is impressive that only two HP 3910 ink cartridges can print at a maximum resolution of 4800x1200. The printheads have a monthly duty cycle of 500 pages and should be replaced every 20-25 DeskJet 3910 ink cartridges. Individual tanks of HP 3910 ink are much more affordable because when one runs out, only that one needs to be replaced. Cartridges of DeskJet 3910 ink are still available from third party vendors and the manufacturer.

The reviews for the 3910 vary from one extreme to the other. Some consumers are overly satisfied with the production and durability or this unit, while others claim HP ripped them off with false promises of high quality. The major complaint is that the HP 3910 ink ends up costing more that the printer itself. However, replacement compatible printer ink is available cheaper from third parties. The HP DeskJet 2910 is a good ink printer, but it really isn't anything special.
