As the third generation of the HP 3840 series of inkjet printers, the HP Deskjet 3847 has changed very little as the specifications are identical. The changes are no doubt internal modifications to improve performance because there is no noticeable physical difference. This unit is targeted at the small office and home user where very large volumes of printing are unnecessary. Fast 18 pages per minute using black Deskjet 3847 ink and 14 pages per minute using color printer ink are a big plus for this price range. There was no noticeable price point change. This inkjet printer is marketed in North America and its sister model, the HP 3848, is designed for use in China. HP continues to produce fine products with great value.
The dimensions are still 18.89x8.5x8.12 inches, and 5.02 pounds still provide the same space efficiency as the earlier generations. The unit is compatible with Mac and Windows. A USB cable hooks things up. The printer ink will produce professional quality projects. When using the HP 3846 ink and fine paper, envelopes or cards, laser printer quality is the norm.
