The HP Business Inkjet 3000 is a grade-A color printer with a weight problem. Slightly heavy and bulky, it is not the most portable unit on the market. Considering there are 4 separate printheads and 4 individual HP 3000 ink cartridges inside, it is no surprise this machine is packing a few extra pounds. However, for a big girl, she sure does work fast, printing up to 21 pages per minute using black printer ink and up to 18 pages per minute in color HP 3000 ink.
Compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems, the HP 3000 has a parallel connection as well as a 2.0 Hi-speed USB port, making image transfers faster than ever. It has an 88 MB memory and enough room to upgrade all the way up to 344 MB. Another optional upgrade would be an automatic duplexer that would allow users to print on both sides of the paper. The Business Inkjet 3000 also has 300 sheet input and output capacities.
As previously mentioned, there are 4 Business Inkjet 3000 ink cartridges—cyan, magenta, yellow and black. With separate tanks, replacements are cheaper and needed less often. The cartridges of HP 3000 ink that come supplied with the printer have a very high monthly duty cycle. The black printer ink can print up to 1,400 pages, while the colors can all print up to 1,330 per month. Due to the high capacity and quality of the Business Inkjet 3000 ink, it costs only 7.9 cents per color page and 1.9 cents per black page.
