The HP 2000c is a color inkjet printer designed for a personal user or a small network. Its print speeds are a bit limited, at around 10 pages per minute for black and white and 4 pages per minute for color, and it lacks a USB port, providing only a parallel port. Alternate models offer more options, however, as the 2000cn, 2000cse, and 2000cxi models add features like networking and extra paper capacity. All models use the same affordable HP 2000c printer ink.
The design of the 2000c is well-suited for personal use on a desktop. It measures 7.9x19.7x16.9 inches, and weighs only 20.7 pounds, making it easy to setup, even without assistance. When connected to an ethernet network, the unit can easily be shared among multiple users as well, though its limited speeds and paper capacity of only 150 sheets will limit it to only a few users.
The unit features an "EconoFast" mode that offers the fastest speeds, as well as reducing the use of HP 2000c printer ink. This does reduce the quality by quite a bit, however, and may not be acceptable for serious use. Higher quality settings mean lower speeds, at only about 8 pages per minute for black at the "Best" quality setting, and 2 pages per minute in color.
The four separate HP 2000c ink cartridges help to reduce waste compared to the combined colors of similar models. HP 2000c ink cartridges are also fairly inexpensive to replace, especially if buyers choose compatible versions for the cost savings.
The inexpensive running costs for the HP 2000c inkjet is one of its most appealing features, but its slow performance and limited connection options make it a little difficult to recommend. Personal users who don't mind slower speeds might like its affordable price and compact design.
