With a speed dial that can hold up to 100 numbers, not only can documents be sent, but voice messages as well—the 1250 Fax has a telephone attached to its front interface.

The HP 1250 inkjet fax machine is lightweight and portable. It weighs only 8.3 pounds and has dimensions of 16.75x8x7 inches. The transmission speed for faxes is fast, taking only 3 seconds per page. The HP 1250 has a memory of 16 MB, and the automatic document feeder can hold 20 sheets. Using black HP 1250 ink, there is a fax resolution of 300x300 dpi. The copying resolution is 600 dpi for black copies and up to 600x1200 dpi for copies made with color Fax 1250 ink.

In this unit, two HP 1250 ink cartridges are used. The first is a tricolor printer ink, and the other is black. The tricolor Fax 1250 ink cartridge has a 165 page yield, and the black has a 190 page yield. The quality of Fax 1250 ink is excellent. The drawback, however, is the price tag on printer ink. Third party vendors do sell remanufactured and compatible cartridges of HP 1250 ink that will definitely save money, making this particular unit an economical buy.

Consumer reviews for this machine are mixed. Some have had awful experiences with the unit, saying it is a waste of money or a piece of junk. High HP 1250 ink consumption and repetitive paper jams were major concerns across the board. However, some say it is a great machine, noting its clear faxes and easy set up.
