Black HP 1218 ink, when being used exclusively, can produce up to 17 pages per minute at a resolution of 600x600 dpi. When the color printer ink is added into it, only 13 pages per minute can be printed at a maximum resolution of 2400x1200 dpi. The drop-on-demand technology uses nozzles to eject the Photosmart 1218 ink onto the page in small dots.
