These days, it seems everyone is obsessed with having flashy features and high-tech electronics. Printers have become a house for multiple devices like fax machines, scanners and copiers. However, most people don't have demanding printing needs and would prefer a budget-friendly, simple unit. The HP Deskjet 1120c is exactly that. It is a stand-alone, single-purpose inkjet printer with decent speeds and good quality. It will provide home users with reliability and easy-to-use features.

With only two HP 1120c ink cartridges, a maximum resolution of 600x600 dpi can be reached. This isn't bad, but there are tons of units with much better quality which comes in handy mainly when printing graphics or photos. The black printer ink is ejected through 300 nozzles and layered per inch of canvas. The tricolor Deskjet 1120c ink cartridge holds cyan, magenta and yellow ink, and each is distributed through 64 nozzles. This technology is referred to as drop-on-demand.

Using black HP 1120c ink, 7 pages per minute can be printed, while only 6 pages can be produced in color per minute. HP PhotoREt II and HP ColorSmart II are provided to enhance and clear up the printed text and graphics. With a monthly duty cycle of 3,000 pages, if this inkjet printer is used for higher-volume printing, Deskjet 1120c ink will need to be replaced a couple times a month. Bulk remanufactured printer ink is available from many third party vendors.

The 1120c is compatible with Windows only and has 2 MB of both RAM and ROM. It can print on both sides of paper and does have optional networking capabilities if needed. Regardless of what this unit is being used for, it will be reliable and will get the job done. Complaints only stem from the low page yields of HP 1120c ink, but for the most part, users are completely content with the 1120c.
