The HP Photosmart 1100 is a stand-alone, single-purpose inkjet printer with color photo printing capabilities. Designed mostly for home use, small offices may appreciate the 5,000 page monthly duty cycle as well as the ability to connect to a network. However, both the quality and speed are below average and would not be an efficient decision for business owners.

For standard at-home printing, the HP 1100 is perfect. It is relatively small, measuring 17.32x7.72x14.56 inches and weighing just over 14 pounds. The tricolor HP 1100 ink can reach a resolution of 300x600 dpi while the black can get up to 600x600 dpi. Multiple media types can be printed on, including envelopes, letters, banners and cards. The tanks of Photosmart 1100 ink have low page yields, so consumers with more heavy duty print jobs will find themselves low on ink quite often. Replacement HP 1100 ink is available online and is considered much more affordable.

There is a built-in memory of 8 MB, as well as a 100-sheet input tray and 50-sheet output tray. The HP 1100 has the ability to perform double-sided printing, which will save money and trees. This printer may not have fancy features, but it is a solid unit.
