Ink Technologies is closed Thursday, November 26th, and Friday, November 27th, for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Orders placed after 3:30pm on Wednesday, November 25th will be shipped on Monday, November 30th.
Though it is the most expensive in its model line, the Epson WorkForce WF-2540 all-in-one inkjet printer adds some nice upgrades, like a larger LCD and support for both wired and wireless network sharing. It has the same great ISO speeds of 4.7 ppm in color and 9 ppm in black, and Epson WF-2540 printer ink uses the same multi-model design for a lower cost all around.
Although the other models in its line were very easy to use, the 2.5-inch LCD of the WF-2540 makes for easier navigation of the menus, and allows for previewing images, which may be worth the price bump alone. Unlike the other models which offer either a wired ethernet port or Wi-Fi, this unit includes both. It still lacks duplex scanning or printing, however.
A 30-sheet automatic document feeder is easily one of its best features, able to churn through documents quickly, and users can send their scans to a PC, save them as PDF files, or even email them directly. The latter option is particularly useful as an alternative to faxing, with higher-quality results that also conserve paper and Epson WF-2540 ink.
The mobile and cloud printing features will appeal to smartphone and tablet owners, as a quick way to print photos and even monitor the machine's status and WorkForce WF-2540 printer ink levels, though some of these features require users to download a specialized app. Busy users might be frustrated by the 100-sheet paper capacity, so it is best-suited to low-volume use.
Unlike inkjet models that use combined tricolor supplies, the WorkForce WF-2540 ink cartridges are divided into four discrete colors, so users replace them one at a time. The high-capacity Epson WF-2540 ink cartridges offer the better value, providing up to 500 pages for black and 450 pages for each color.
While it doesn't have the capacity for larger volumes, the Epson WF-2540 is an impressive all-in-one with a great feature set and solid speeds. Its larger screen and the choice of network sharing method are worth the slightly higher price over other models in its line.
