The Epson 1000 is an all in one built with personal users in mind. With a small size of only 17.9x15.3x10 inches, any desk space will be able to fit it atop. The color inkjet unit can copy, scan and fax, and is compatible with Mac and Windows as well as lesser known operating systems.
The speeds with the 1000 are a little bit slower than the competition though. When it comes to copies, only 3.2 pages per minute can be printed in black-and-white, while 2.2 pages per minute can be produced in color. Printing is a little faster than copying—but not by much. When printing in black-and-white, up to 8 pages per minute can be produced, while color documents print out at 2.2 pages per minute. For offices with high-volume needs, these speeds won't do. However, for the home user who prints only a few pages at a time, it shouldn't be a problem. With slow speeds comes high quality, though. Resolutions of 2880x720 dpi are possible when printing.
Only two Epson 1000 ink cartridges will be needed for printing. One is filled with black printer ink, while the other is a tricolor tank that houses cyan, magenta and yellow ink. The black will last about 400 pages, while the color only 300 pages. For most home users, these yields will last for quite awhile.
One big complaint with this unit is that the Epson 1000 ink cartridges are too expensive. Fear not, though—remanufactured versions of the printer ink are available from third party vendors everywhere. Remanufactured inkjet tanks are just as good as the OEM product, but they cost significantly less. This particular remanufactured Epson 1000 ink costs about a third as much as the OEM products. Remanufactured printer ink is definitely the best way to go.
