The Canon PC790 laser copier fits a lot of speed and functionality into a small design. The unit 13.3 inches by 19.1 inches by 17.3 inches, and weighs 55 pounds. This is a little bulkier than previous personal copy machines from Canon, but users get a lot more functionality from its extra size, and is still a compact machine with a small enough footprint to fit into tight spaces.
One of the benefits of the unit's extra size is a 30-page automatic document feeder, which allows users to quickly copy multiple pages without having to load them one at a time onto a flatbed scanner. The unit does also include a flatbed scanner, however, and unlike smaller models, the flatbed scanner is stationary, making it better able to accommodate larger media like books. Users can zoom from 70% to 141%, and there are both automatic and manual exposure settings available. Paper capacity is 250 sheets in the main drawer, with an additional 50-sheet bypass tray for alternate media.
