The Canon imageCLASS PC-D340 laser printer is designed for the home or small office user. Its fast speeds and excellent print quality, combined with its convenient automatic document feeder, make it a great choice for a busy small office. For small offices that need coloring capabilites, a model that uses Lexmark C5240CH toner may be a better buy.
The Canon PC-D340 laser printer is designed to have a very small footprint, making it an ideal choice for offices with limited space. There are some tradeoffs to its compact size, however, as the scanning unit is perched somewhat awkwardly on the top of the unit, and the output tray is a little tougher to get to than it should be, as it is more or less hidden under the scanning unit. Still, its design is a focus on efficient use of space that small office users should appreciate.
Another feature almost any user will appreciate is the 50-sheet automatic document feeder, which allows users to scan up to 50 pages at once automatically, without having to load individual pages. This is a real time-saver that is becoming an increasingly common feature even on home and small office machines. Copies are also very fast, due to the "scan once copy many" feature which stores the original document in memory rather than scanning it for each copy.
Canon PC-D340 toner cartridges have a capacity of 3,500 pages for each black laser toner cartridge. Konica-Minolta 1710580-001 toner will last 6,000 pages, so offices with higher needs may want to consider the Konica Minolta 5430 printer. Canon imageCLASS PC-D340 toner cartridges are very affordably-priced, and have a low cost per page. The printer toner cartridge is also very easy to access and replace.
Print quality is excellent, as the unit has a 1200 dpi printing engine for very sharp prints and copies.
