The Canon imageCLASS MF8350 color laser printer is designed for the small or medium office that needs fast, high-volume printing capabilities. It also has a few nice bonus features under its sleeve.
The Canon MF8350 color laser printer, also referred to as the MF8350cdn, can print, scan, copy, and fax in color, unlike its predecessor, the monochrome Canon MF6550 toner printer. Each of the MF8350's multifunction features is very well-implemented, and they compliment each other very well. Super G3 transmission speeds are supported when faxing, and the machine can also slow down transmission speeds when communicating with slower machines.
The unit has a 50-sheet automatic document feeder for scanning multiple pages quickly and easily, for scanning, copying, or faxing. It includes both a USB port and an ethernet port for connection. This allows it to easily connect and be shared across a network of computers, and setting it up for network sharing is drop dead simple.
Along with its major features, the unit also includes a few interesting bonus features that previous models, such as the Canon MF6590 toner printer did not have. Its ID Copy features allows users to quickly and easily copy both sides of an ID card without having to waste extra paper. It also has a fax forward feature, for forwarding faxes to another number when traveling. It can also scan pages as searchable PDF files, with its optical character recognition software. This is ideal for making paperless archives that are easy to search.
Canon imageCLASS MF8350 toner cartridges are a little on the expensive side, and their small capacities give it a higher cost per page than competing models. Each color laser toner cartridge has a capacity of 2,900 pages, while the single black printer toner cartridge has a capacity of 3,400 pages. Third-party compatible cartridges will reduce the cost significantly when compared to the OEM Canon MF8350 toner cartridges.
Print speed is fairly fast, at around 21 pages per minute. Print quality is excellent.
Overall, the Canon MF8350 is an impressive machine with a wide range of options, but its higher toner costs will make it more expensive to operate than competing models.
