The Canon imageCLASS MF8050 color laser printer is designed for the home or small office user, similar to the HP 1500 toner printer. Its excellent multifunction features and print quality, and built-in networking, make it an excellent choice for a busy small office.
The Canon MF8050 color laser printer (also referred to as the MF8050CN) is a relatively compact unit, though it is larger than most laser printers, due to its multifunction features. The unit measures 16.9 inches by 17 inches by 19.1 inches, and weighs 52 pounds. The machine can print, scan, copy, and fax, allowing it to handle virtually every task an office would need.
There is a 50-sheet automatic document feeder for scanning multiple pages quickly, which can be used for its scanning, copying, or faxing functions. There is also a flatbed scanner that can handle items that won't fit in the feeder, and it has a maximum scanning surface up to 8.5 by 14 inches.
Faxing transmission speeds up to 33.6 kbps (Super G3) are supported for fast transmissions. The scanner supports color or monochrome scanning up to 600 dpi optical resolution, and up to 9600 dpi interpolated. Scans can be sent to a variety of locations, including network PCs and USB.
Canon imageCLASS MF8050 toner cartridges have a capacity of 1,500 pages for each color laser toner cartridge. The black printer toner cartridge has a capacity of 1,500 pages also. High-yield Canon MF8050 toner cartridges are also available, with capacities of 2,300 pages each. This makes the unit much more economical, as it lowers the cost per page to print.
Print speed is decent, but a little below average, at 12 pages per minute for black and 8 pages per minute for color. Print quality is excellent across the board, with sharp text and accurate colors.
