The Canon MF4270 is a multifunction monochrome laser printer designed for the small office. Its highlights are excellent print and scan quality, and its built-in networking and duplexing are icing on the cake. Limited faxing and scanning options are minor drawbacks.
The Canon MF4270 is, at its heart, an excellent laser printer and scanner. While it has the capability to print, scan, copy, and fax, its printing and scanning quality are the real standouts. Unfortunately, despite the excellent scan quality the MF4270 is capable of, scanning is limited to USB-only. Scans can only be sent to a host computer directly connected via USB, and network scanning is not supported. This is a strange omission, especially considering the MF4270 comes with a built-in ethernet port. So while the MF4270 provides impressive scan quality, its use is limited to one computer. Faxing is a bit limited as well. The MF4270 includes the standard options like speed dial and the ability to store faxes in memory, but not much else. One nice feature, however, is that the MF4270 can secure faxes stored in memory with a password, so that prying eyes will not be able to access sensitive faxes.
What really sets the Canon MF4270 apart are some of its included bonuses that are a bit rare for its class and price point. The unit includes automatic duplexing, built-in ethernet, and an automatic document feeder with a capacity of 35 pages for automatic scanning, copying, or faxing of multiple pages at once. The MF4270 also includes an excellent Toner Save mode for conserving toner, and therefore toner costs. The fact that you get all of these features in one affordable package makes the MF4270 an excellent value. Print speeds are quite fast, at around 15 pages per minute. Print quality is the best available for its class and price point.

It's a small capacity; but with the Toner saver option, the Canon MF4270 will be perfect for a small office or home user.
