L6000
The Canon L6000 is a multifunction laser printer designed for the home or small office user. The Canon L6000 has a wide range of features in a small package, but other all-in-one machines have more to offer. Its slow printing speeds and lack of a flatbed scanner are serious drawbacks. For a multi-purpose unit that excels at these features, consider the Samsung CLX-3170, which features Samsung CLT-K409S toner.
The Canon MultiPASS L6000 is a multifunction device, though not what most would consider to be a true all-in-one machine. The Canon L6000 can print, scan, copy, and fax, as well as send faxes directly from a PC. This is a handy feature for sending to users who prefer faxes over emails. What the Canon MultiPASS L6000 really lacks, however, is a flatbed scanner, limiting its use as a copy machine and scanner. Only documents that fit into the automatic document feeder can be scanned or copied, limiting its utility.
Faxing is perhaps its strongest feature, and seems to be the focus of the machine. It has a 122 page memory capacity for storing incoming faxes when the unit is out of paper. The automatic document feeder can hold up to 20 pages. What is really disappointing is the fax transmission speeds of 14.4 kbps, which is well behind most competing units.
The Canon L6000 toner cartridges are very affordable, giving it a low cost of ownership. Each Canon L6000 toner cartridge has a capacity of 2,700 pages. The Canon L6000 toner cartridges are also easy to access and replace, and include both the toner and the drum in the single cartridge, for less maintenance. They are also much more affordable than competing products, like Konica-Minolta A0V301F toner.
As a printer, the Canon L6000 falls behind most of the competition as well. Its print speed is only 6 pages per minute. Text quality is quite good, though it loses some readability at very small font sizes. Graphics quality is below average. For higher quality graphics, take a look at the Dell 1320c and its needed Dell 310-9064 toner.
Overall, the Canon L6000 just doesn't have enough to offer in any of its main functions to make it stand out from better competing products. Its economical toner costs are good, but not enough to make it a strong recommendation.
