The Canon L600 laser fax is designed for the small or medium office environment. It has a wide array of fax features, fast transmission speeds, and economical toner costs that make it an excellent choice for the office that needs a dedicated fax machine. For those who would prefer a dedicated printer instead, the Okidata C5550 that uses Okidata 43865719 toner may be a better buy.

In office environments, multifunction devices are increasingly dominating, but there is still a good case to be made for having a dedicated fax machine. The Canon L600 laser fax fits this need perfectly. Having a dedicated machine means the fax machine is not busy when someone is using it as a copier, and having its paper supply dedicated only to faxes means it is less likely to be out of paper when an important fax comes in.

Impressively, the unit also functions as a simple copy machine and even as a laser printer. Neither of these functions are as well-designed as a dedicated copier or printer, but for occasional use, they should meet most user's needs.

A 50-sheet automatic document feeder is the heart of its fax function. The unit supports zooming from 50-200%, and has a page memory of up to 256 pages, to ensure that an incoming fax won't be missed, even when it is out of paper.

Canon L600 toner cartridges have a capacity of 4,000 pages. Each laser toner cartridge is very affordably-priced, like Okidata 42127404 toner, making it a very economical choice for offices on a budget. The toner save mode helps users get even more capacity from each fax toner cartridge.

Print and copy speed is quite good, at 14 pages per minute. Print quality is mixed. Text is very sharp and detailed, and readable at small font sizes, but text and graphics are not as sharp as some of Canon's dedicated laser printers, like the Samsung CLP-315 and its Samsung CLT-Y409S toner.

Overall, the Canon L600 is an ideal choice for users who need a dedicated fax, but those who need high-quality printing and copying will want to consider a true all-in-one machine instead.
