The Canon L500 laser fax is designed for the small or medium office environment. Its fast transmission speeds and excellent feature set make it a robust fax machine that is an excellent choice for any office. For printing instead of faxing, check out the Dell 1320c and its needed Dell 310-9064 toner instead.
The Canon L500 laser fax has a very small footprint, but its scanning unit and input paper tray both stick out from the main unit in such a way that more space than its footprint will be. Large offices won't be satistfied with this machine, but a model that uses Dell 310-7889 toner should suffice.
A complete fax feature set is included. The unit can store 30 one-touch locations for dialing, as well as 100 additional locations in memory. It also supports group dials for sending the same document to multiple recipients. The standard model does not include a telephone handset, but it is available as an upgrade option.
A 50-sheet automatic document feeder is included, for quickly and easily scanning multiple pages without having to scan them individually. Input paper capacity is 250 sheets in its single drawer. There is also a manual feed drawer that can hold up to 10 sheets, depending on the media type.
Canon L500 toner cartridges have a capacity of 4,000 pages for the single black laser toner cartridge. Users can get more from each fax toner cartridge by enabling the toner save mode, which reduces the amount of toner used per-page. The toner has a low cost per page, much like Okidata 43324404 toner.
Transmission speed is fast, supporting Super G3 speeds up to 33.6 kbps. Print speed is up to 14 pages per minute. Print quality is excellent, with sharp and detailed text. Graphics quality is average.
Overall, users who need a dedicated fax machine will find a lot to like in the Canon L500. Others may consider an all-in-one machine for more functionality at a similar price point.
