The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF815 is a large format inkjet printer that has the ability to print 44" documents. Only specific users will have a need for the kind of documents this machine produces. Advertisers, engineers and other users in the technical document field will be satisfied with the reliable and efficient performance of the iPF815. The feature that sets this unit apart from its predecessor, the iPF810, is the increased hard drive space. The iPF810 has 80GB and the iPF815 has 160GB, allowing it to handle more complex jobs.
A typical inkjet printer will have 4 printer ink tanks holding cyan, magenta, yellow and black. However, an additional Canon iPF815 ink cartridge is used for this device that holds matte black ink. This specialty imagePROGRAF iPF815 ink adds a crisp finish to black-and-white documents, whereas the standard black is used in color prints. Replacement Canon iPF815 ink is available from third party vendors, but is not yet in remanufactured form.
Compatible with Windows, Mac and most other operating systems, the iPF815 will fit in any office system. It features a USB port as well as an ethernet connection. The ethernet interface gives users the opportunity to build a network to share the printer. The built-in memory is 384 MB, which should be enough to handle large amounts of data.
Using the Canon iPF815 ink, a maximum resolution of 2400x1200 dpi can be produce. The resolution is measured by the amount of dots on each inch of paper. Over 15,000 nozzles are used to eject 4 picoliter sized droplets of printer ink. There is an economy printing mode as well as an alert to let users know when the time has come to replace the imagePROGRAF iPF815 ink cartridges. This unit is a workhorse and a powerhouse, providing professional prints for its users.
