The Canon Pixma P4820 is a simple inkjet photo printer that runs for less than $75. Though this machine does not have the multiple functions and fancy features that many other photo printers on the market have, it is one of the best for the purpose it was intended for. Offices may find some use in the P4820, but generally home users will be more satisfied with its inkjet capabilities. It can print 11 pages per minute when using only black printer ink and 9.3 pages per minute in color. These speeds will not keep pace with most work environments but should be fine for personal use.
Connected mainly via high speed USB port, image transfers should be speedy. This is the standard connection for current models, but this Canon photo printer also features a PictBridge connection which allows users to directly connect a digital camera and start printing. A 4x6 inch photo without borders can print in approximately 20 seconds. The Pixma P4820 ink can produce resolutions as high as 9600x2400 dpi, which will give all standard text documents and graphics an extremely professional look.
There is a cyan, magenta, yellow, black and pigment-based black Canon P4820 ink cartridge needed for operation. The 3 color printer inks can last for 510 pages, the black for 310 pages and the special black Pixma P4820 ink cartridge that is intended to be used with text documents has the ability to print as many as 4,335 pages before expiring. When replacement Canon P4820 ink is necessary, it can be purchased directly from Canon or from certified suppliers on the web or in local office supplies stores.
Windows and Mac operating systems are compatible with this unit and automatic double-sided printing is included. This should reduce paper use, and with the affordable Canon P4820 ink, the cost of owning and maintaining this photo printer will be reasonable for anyone.

The Canon iP4820 is a basic inkjet photo printer for those who don’t really need an all-in-one model. It features a number of methods for getting photos into the machine, such as a PictBridge port and camera phone printing, but it lacks an LCD screen for previewing images.
Power up the printer if it’s not already on, then lower the front paper tray to access the top cover. Raise the cover up from the paper tray opening, and wait for the carriage holding the cartridges to move to the center.
Find the Canon iP4820 ink cartridge that is flashing to indicate it is empty, then pry the plastic lever away from you to free the cartridge. You can then simply grasp and pull it out of the opening.
Take the new PIXMA iP4820 cartridge out of the box, and carefully remove the plastic bag. Loosen and remove the tape strip at the top of the cartridge, then pry its small lever away from the orange protector to remove that as well.
Insert the front of the iP4820 cartridge at a slight angle into the opening. Press down from the top until you feel it click into place. You can then lower the top cover down slowly.
You are now ready to resume printing with your Canon PIXMA iP4820 printer.
