A printer that will satisfy most home and small business users, the Canon Pixma iP2000 offers great text printing and very good image printing capabilities. A step up from Canon's iP1500 budget model, the iP2000 is a much more capable and practical unit. The Canon iP2000 ink can create a good quality 8 x 10 print in under three minutes. While not as feature-packed as its counterparts, the Pixma iP3000 and iP4000, the iP2000 still offers the choice of more than one input tray like the other models.

The innovative print head design provides the Canon iP2000 inkjet cartridges with the capability of printing high-resolution images. The iP2000 does lack the ink level indicator of the iP4000 but achieves nearly the same output speed for black and white printing as its more expensive cousin. One other feature of the Canon iP2000 ink cartridges is the 600 x 600 dpi maximum resolution for black and white and 4800 x 1200 dpi maximum resolution for color prints.

Capable of printing on photo paper, plain paper, photo stickers and envelopes. The iP2000 is compatible with Windows and Mac and can connect directly to a PictBridge-compatible camera. It has a 150-sheet capacity for both letter and legal sizes.

With dual input trays and good photo printing, the Canon Pixma iP2000 inkjet printer is a good choice in a general use printer. Its speed will impress most buyers at this price point. Quieter than most other printers in its class, the iP2000 can be used where noise is a factor. The included photo printing software works well.

The dual tray feature means that the printer can be set up for both plain paper and photo paper printing without switching between the two. Cost is another positive, which should please those on a budget.
