The Canon imageCLASS C2500 is a multifunction color laser printer with scanning and copying capabilities as well. Print speeds of 17 pages per minute are a bit slow for its class, but it is a relatively affordable model with a wide range of features and a decent amount of upgradability. The cost of replacing imageCLASS C2500 printer toner is a bit high for a small office, but comparable to competing models.
The C2500 has a relatively compact size in its base configuration, especially for such a powerful machine. It measures 20.8x22.8x18.9 inches, with a weight of around 77 pounds that does include the four Canon C2500 toner supplies. The standard input paper capacity is 500 sheets, with a 100-sheet bypass tray that is mainly for alternative media types. Offices that need a little more capacity can upgrade it to a maximum of 1,100 sheets with the addition of another 500-sheet tray.
The C2500 does have its limitations, however. The first page out time of 19 seconds is quite slow, and its 17 pages per minute maximum speed is barely competitive with other models in its class. The print resolution of 600 dpi is decent, but with so many 1200-dpi models on the market, some buyers may be expecting more.
If the idea of replacing four toners seems a bit daunting, it may be for some offices, especially when it comes to price. Canon C2500 toner cartridges are competitively priced, and capacities are pretty solid. Each imageCLASS C2500 toner cartridge has a yield of around 8,000 pages. Smart shoppers can even utilize remanufactured Canon C2500 toner instead of OEM supplies, to help save on operating expenses.
The C2500 is a solid laser printer for a small office, with excellent scanning and copying capabilities. Some buyers will be disappointed in its performance, however, and many would be better served by paying a bit more for both faster speed and a higher output resolution.
