The Canon Fax L2000 laser fax is designed for the medium or large office environment, much like a few different LaserJet units that use HP Q2670A toner. It is a full-featured dedicated fax machine that can also function as a basic copier.
The design of the Canon Fax L2000 laser fax is a bit on the bulky side. Its multiple input trays take up a fair amount of space, but for the office that does a high volume of faxing, this will likely be a small price to pay. It is available in two configurations. The Fax L2000 is the base model, while the Fax L2000 IP includes the ability to send and receive internet faxes, as well as operate as a network laser printer. Internet faxing is an especially convenient feature, as it can have faster transmission times, and doesn't tie up a phone line.
Canon Fax L2000 toner cartridges have a capacity of 4,500 pages for each black laser toner cartridge, which is more than some color toners, such as HP CC532A toner. The fax toner cartridge is easy to access and replace, and relatively affordable. Using third-party compatible cartridges will reduce costs even more.
Input paper capacity is 500 sheets, divided among two 250-sheet trays. The automatic document feeder has a capacity of 100 sheets, which allows users to fax up to 100 pages at a time automatically. The unit has a page memory of up to 510 pages, so faxes can be recovered even when the unit is out of paper.
Fax transmission speeds support Super G3 speeds of up to 33.6 kbps, and the unit can also slow down transmission speed to accommodate slower machines. Printing speed is around 18 pages per minute. Print quality is generally good, but not as sharp as most dedicated laser printers, such as an HP 5550 which uses HP C9733A toner. Print quality with the L2000 is also determined by the quality of the fax transmission.
Overall, the Canon Fax L2000 is an impressive fax machine. It can handle the high-volume fax needs of a very large office without slowing down.
