The Canon CLC-900 is a color laser copier designed for high-volume office environments. With a generous paper capacity, high duty cycle, and fast copying speeds, it stands ready to handle all your office can throw at it.
When judging a copier, most users will consider two factors: speed and ease of use. The CLC-900 handles both quite well. Black and white copy speed is an impressive 28 pages per minute, which is better than cometing models and ink, like Okidata 42127401 toner. Color copy speed is a much slower 7 pages per minute. While the color speed is a little disappointing, it is not likely to be much of a factor, as color copying will likely be an occasional need for most users. As for ease of use, the CLC-900 has that covered as well. Each button on its control panel is clearly marked and menu navigation is simple and straightforward.
High-volume use is what the CLC-900 was built for, and its specifications prove it. Input paper capacity includes a generous 1,000 sheet standard paper supply, and a 50 sheet bypass stack for alternative paper stock. Its monthly duty cycle is 20,000 sheets, meaning it can handle the largest of workloads. Capacity for the Canon CLC-900 toner cartridges are at 4,500 pages for both the color and the black Canon CLC-900 toners. Higher yielding models using Xerox 106R01395 toner would be better for larger volume use.
The copier does not support automatic duplexing (two-sided copying) but it does support manual duplexing, requiring the user to feed paper back into the machine to accomplish this task. An optional RDF feeder can be added on later if necessary. The unit also features a 20 bin stapler sorter as a finishing option.
Overall, the CLC-900 is a solid, reliable color copier capable of handling the high-volume needs of large office environments. For personal use, a CLP-300 containing Samsung CLP-K300A toner would be a more suitable choice.. Its black and white copy speeds should be fast enough for even the busiest of offices, even though its color copy speeds are somewhat disappointing.
