The Canon C2550 is a multifunction copier and laser toner printer designed for the medium or large office environment. Its fast printing and copying speeds will meet the demands of a high-volume office, and its print quality and color accuracy are impressive.

The Canon C2550 is almost more of a small computer than a printer. It has a hefty processor, 1 GB of RAM installed, and even an 80 GB hard drive. This gives the C2550 the power to not only handle all the necessary processing of print and copy jobs, but also to act as a robust print server for the office. It includes a built-in ethernet port for easily connecting and sharing it across a network, and it has a built-in web server, allowing users to interact with the machine and each other to collaborate on, print, share, and store documents from any computer on the network. The C2550 also comes with a USB 2.0 port for connecting directly to a single computer. The printer supports all modern versions of Windows and Mac OS X, as well as Citrix Metaframe, so it is at home on nearly any network.

The Canon C2550 is a very capable copy machine, with all the expected features included, such as zooming from 25-400% and making up to 999 copies automatically. It is also a color scanner, able to send scans to a variety of locations, including email, a network folder, an FTP server, or even store a scanned document on its hard drive for later printing.

Print quality is excellent. The unit's 1200 dpi printing engine produces sharp, detailed text and accurate color prints. Print speed is quite fast, at around 23 pages per minute in color and 25 pages per minute in monochrome. First page out time is also very fast, at around 6 seconds, meaning very little waiting for a print job to start.

The Canon C2550 toner cartridges are fully capable of keeping up with the workload that this copier/printer can put out. At 14,000 pages per color and 26,000 pages per black, Canon C2550 toner cartridges are just as robust as the printer they were designed for.

Overall, the Canon C2550 is a real workhorse printer, able to handle a large volume of printing without breaking a sweat. Its high price tag will eventually be balanced by its very economical toner use and cost.
