Much like the BJC-7000, the Canon BJC-8000 is an outdated desktop printer with color photo printing capabilities. The output speed is slow, and the quality is fair. This unit was ahead of its time ten years ago but has since become an afterthought. It can only print up to 8 pages per minute using black Canon BJC-8000 ink and up to 5 pages per minute using color printer ink. Canon CLI-221GY ink and other current types of ink can produce up to 20 pages per minute, if not more.
At this stage in the game, it would end up costing consumers more to maintain this inkjet unit and buy replacement Canon BJC-8000 ink than to invest in a more recent model. This machine is as basic as possible and has only one black Canon BJC-8000 ink cartridge. This individual tank is supposed to handle all printing needs, while other units have multiple color tanks, like Brother LC41M ink. For the BJC-8000, text tends to be grainy, and photos are below expectations. Quite frankly, one could probably purchase this printer on Ebay for the same price as OEM Canon BJC-8000 ink.
