The Canon BJC-7000 is a personal printer that was designed to be an innovative addition to the Canon inkjet line. In 1998, this unit was among the Top 10 highest rated printers. It can print up to 4.5 pages per minute at a resolution of 1200x600dpi (dots per inch). In 2010, it is virtually impossible to purchase this printer, but back in the day, it was being sold for approximately $150.
Before technology perfected the art of printing, the BJC-7000 was among the elite. It introduced a new printer ink system that threw in a separate tank full of clear sealant next to the black Canon BJC-7000 ink cartridge. This sealant was dispensed onto plain paper to serve as a coat, and then the black Canon BJC-7000 ink was sprayed on top of it. At that time, inkjet units struggled to print clear and crisp black text. Canon was hoping the sealant would change that, but it really didn't.
The BJC-7000 has been discontinued; however the Canon BJC-7000 ink cartridges are still available. The black and color printer ink goes for around $10 or $20. This unit has been rated a 4 out of 10 and does not compare to modern day inkjet printers. Canon is among the best for manufacturing high quality and cost effective machines, and in the 20th century the Canon BJC-7000 was at the top of its class.
