The Canon BJ-W3000 is a giant among normal inkjet printers. It is considered a plotter, which is an oversized printer that stands up a few feet tall and creates large documents with graphics, art, photos or banner style writing. There are four Canon BJ-W3000 ink cartridges in this device, which go with four separate printheads. They come in cyan, magenta, yellow and black. The Canon BJ-W3000 ink is high quality, though the tanks are smaller at only 27mL for black and 25mL for color, which is a bit less than HP 940XL Magenta ink. It is recommended that the printheads be replaced after the use of 25 Canon BJ-W3000 ink cartridges.

The Canon BJ-W3000 inkjet printer is reviewed as being "middle-of-the-road" and did not make too much of a splash when it was released because other similar models were better. In draft mode, it takes the BJ-W3000 1.4 minutes to print a monochrome document. In normal mode, it takes 4.3 minutes.
