MP21C
Lets journey back, back to when Razor scooters were the number one mode of transportation, the Backstreet Boys were taking over the world and Brother introduced the MP-21C. This was among the first in portable printers, but not necessarily one of the finest. In the late 90s, technology was still developing, and it shows in the MP-21C. Averaging 2 pages per minute, and sometimes less, this inkjet turtle was more of a last resort than a front runner on the market.
The Brother MP-21C was of course a life saver for traveling businessmen who perhaps forgot to print their presentation and needed it at the last minute. It was also nice for vacationing families to print pictures wherever they are. The MP-21C can be plugged directly into a laptop's PCMCIA slot, eliminating the need for an external power supply or parallel port. However, there is no document feeder.
There are only 2 Brother MP-21c ink cartridges, which was a standard in that era of inkjet printers. However, usually one tank would have black printer ink and the other would be tri-color (cyan, yellow, magenta). In this case, one Brother MP-21C ink cartridge consists of black and cyan, while the other is filled with yellow and magenta printer ink. The tanks of Brother MP-21C ink have a page yield of 150-250 and have a maximum resolution of 720x720 dpi. Both of those specifications leave much to be desired.
This inkjet printer uses the MicroPiezo print technology, which used nozzles on the printhead to eject Brother MP-21C ink per inch of paper. That technology ensures fine detail and accuracy. Even though this printer was only relevant for as long as the rollerblade comeback lasted, replacement cartridges of Brother MP-21C ink can still be found.
