The unit ships with standard Brother MFC-9420cn toner cartridges with capacities of 5,000 pages for black and 3,000 pages for each color laser toner cartridge, but these can be upgraded also to high-yield Brother toner cartridges. The high-yield printer toner cartridges have capacities of 10,000 pages for black and 6,600 for each color.
The design of the unit is much bulkier than either the inkjet models or dedicated laser models it is likely replacing, and is almost certainly too large to share a desk with its user.
