Costing just around $300, the Brother MFC-7860DW is the most high-tech laser printer in the newest releases from Brother. The other two have many of the same core features, but this unit offers some additional capabilities that set it apart and appeal to small offices. It is a true all-in-one printer, meaning is can make copies, scan documents and send and receive faxes, as well as print at a speed of 27 pages per minute. Unfortunately, it can only print in black-and-white, which makes it a monochrome machine.

There is an automatic duplexer for users that need to print on both sides of paper. There is a 32 MB memory, a paper capacity of 250 sheets and an automatic document feeder that prevents the user from having to hand-feed paper. The scanner provides a scan-to-email feature which should open up the lines of communication with colleagues and customers.

Much like the other two models just released by this manufacturer, the MFC-7860DW is connected via USB port and ethernet. The ethernet connection is what ultimately allows networking. However, one connection option this unit offers that others do not is wireless. Multiple PCs can connect to this printer by having a mother ship PC that always remains connected. This will bring an added convenience to any small office. That is not the only upgrade, though. The Brother MFC-7860DW printer allows printing and scanning directly from an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

There is only one Brother MFC-7860DW toner cartridge used in this machine, and it has a page yield of 2,600 pages. This is filled with black printer toner only. The quality Brother MFC-7860DW toner can reach a resolution of 2400x600 dpi. When these do start to run low and replacements are needed, they can be purchased from the manufacturer or remanufactured Brother MFC-7860DW toner cartridges can be purchased for much less from third party vendors.
