The Brother MFC-3100C is a multifunction machine that should find a place with many small office and home office users. Its low upfront price and the low cost of Brother MFC-3100C ink make it a very economical choice. Its print speeds are a bit slow, however, at 10 pages per minute for black and 8 pages per minute for color.
Printing output resolution is up to 1200 dpi, for very sharp and detailed prints. Unlike some multifunction units at this price point, the scanner is capable of 1200 dpi resolution as well, meaning copies will be nearly as sharp as the originals. With their large Brother ink cartridge capacities, Brother MFC-3100C inkjet cartridges are very economical. The black inkjet cartridge has a page yield of around 950 pages, while the three color Brother MFC-3100C ink cartridges have a page yield of around 400 pages each.
The machine connects via either USB or parallel, and support both Windows and Mac platforms. It supports not only traditional faxing, but also PC Faxing, which allows users to send a fax directly from the computer, as easily as sending a document to a printer.
