The Brother HL-2150 is a basic monochrome laser printer for the home or small office user. Its compact design and low price make it a great choice for personal use, and its fast printing speeds of up to 23 pages per minute make it a very efficient machine. Its affordable price is lower than many devices in its class, and the low cost of Brother HL-2150 toner keeps operating costs low. The HL-2150N model adds an ethernet port for connecting it directly to a network.
The device is certainly designed for basic functionality and ease-of-use. The control panel features a single large "Go" button and three LED indicator lights. Most of the printer's functionality is handled within the software, and the majority of users will never need to change settings to get up and running. The machine measures 6.7 inches by 14.5 inches by 14.2 inches (HWD) and weighs 15 pounds. Input paper capacity is 250 sheets, but the output tray holds only 100 sheets, making it less than ideal for users who print very large documents.
Saving on the cost of printer toner generally adds more value than a low upfront price, and the cost of toners for the HL-2150 is very low. Brother HL-2150 toner cartridges have a capacity of 1,500 pages. High-yield Brother HL-2150 toner cartridges are also available, with a capacity of 2,600 pages. This makes the cost per page even lower.
IT Reviews gave the Brother HL-2150 a positive review, praising its compact size and affordable price. They also liked its fast print speed and its short first page out time of 10 seconds, but felt that the small output paper tray limited its utility for users who print a heavy amount.
Overall, the Brother HL-2150 is a compact and simple printer that will be a good fit for users with basic printing needs. Its low price coupled with the affordable cost of Brother HL-2150 toner makes it an excellent value for home or small office users.

Although the Brother HL-2150 doesn’t have wireless support like the HL-2170W model, it does include an ethernet port for those with a wired network. It is designed for sharing among a few users in a small office, though its 250-sheet paper tray could be a bit limiting for larger shared environments.
The toner light on the control panel is designed to warn you when the toner supply is getting low by flashing, and a steady light means the Brother HL-2150 toner cartridge is empty and needs to be replaced.
Before you start, press the power button to turn the printer off, then you can open the front access panel. You should see a small handle that you can pull out toward you.
Place this entire assembly on a table surface so that you can separate the drum assembly from the HL-2150 toner cartridge. Press the lock lever, then grasp the cartridge and tilt it up slightly to remove it.
Prepare your new Brother HL-2150 toner by opening the box and discarding any packing materials, then open and remove the bag. Before you remove the cover, distribute the toner inside by rocking the cartridge side to side multiple times, then remove the protective cover.
Place your new HL-2150 toner cartridge into the drum assembly and snap it into place, then rotate the assembly to clean the corona wire. Find the tab near the rear of the assembly, and slide it side to side a few times, then put it back into its original position.
Place the Brother HL-2150 toner cartridge and drum assembly back into the printer, close the panel, and press the power button to turn the unit back on.
You are now ready to resume printing with your Brother HL-2150 printer.
