Technology: From Old to New

Posted Thursday, May 28th, 2015 by .

What time is it? Check the iWatch. Lost? Check in with your GPS. Need help remembering a grocery list? Call or text your family for a quick response. It seems that it is getting harder and harder to stay up-to-date on all the latest advances in technology. The times are a-changing and they are doing this at rapid speeds!

Some technology advances are fun, such as those geared toward video games. Some are helpful, like those that make it easy to keep in touch with loved ones around the world. Hosting a Memorable Memorial Day

Posted Thursday, May 21st, 2015 by .

Hopefully, Memorial Day is not merely just another day off from work for you. It comes with a rich history, beginning with what was originally called Decoration Day. Although Waterloo, New York was declared the birthplace in 1966, over two dozen US cities claim to be the origin of this special holiday which officially started back in 1868. It was borne out of the Civil War and a desire to honor those who fought and gave their lives. Now, we honor all those who have died in any US war, not just the Civil War.

This year, why not create a Memorial Day celebration that everyone will remember? All you need are simple supplies and good company.

Bringing the Outdoors In

Posted Thursday, May 14th, 2015 by .

Spring has finally sprung! If you’re like many employees, you‘re probably spending a fair amount of time gazing through the window, wishing you were outside. Instead of wasting all that time staring out doors, you can make yourself, your boss, or even your co-workers a lot happier if you can find ways to bring the outdoors in.

This blog is about designing an outdoor-friendly office space.

Why Nature Matters

First of all, it’s important to know a bit about the benefits of the great outdoors, in case you have any “obstacles” in your way. Plants are the foundation of most of the food webs on Earth. This means that you can start with essentially any animal and work through a food chain, all the way down to plants. For example, a lion eats a zebra which eats grass. In short, without plants, none of us would be here!

For the office, a simple argument boils down to the quality of the indoor air. Houseplants are pretty to look at, but they have also been shown to actually help purify the air we breathe! Considering that indoor air can be up to five times worse than the air outdoors, this makes indoor plants a necessity at the workplace. These top 10 plants are effective at removing formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide.

Breakfast in Bed

On Mother’s Day across the world, many moms are undoubtedly getting breakfast in bed. While Mom might appreciate eggs, bacon, toast, and freshly squeezed OJ, it’s really all about presentation.
